Exterior Restoration of Belfast Chinese Christian Church

At Elevate Exterior Cleaning Services, we were honoured to be entrusted with the restoration and cleaning of the Belfast Chinese Christian Church, a much-valued place of worship and community in the heart of the city.

A Historic Building with Deep Roots

Founded in 1975, the church has served as a spiritual and cultural home for the Chinese Christian community in Northern Ireland. The church buildings, over time, had begun to show signs of wear from environmental exposure — particularly moss and algae growth on the roof and exterior walls — and required professional care to restore them to their best.

A Two-Week Restoration Project

Over a focused two-week period, our team undertook a full exterior clean across the church and its adjacent buildings. One of the most challenging tasks was the roof, which was heavily covered in moss. This required manual scraping by hand and with specialist tools, as the growth was too thick to be effectively treated without first removing it. Once fully cleared, we treated all roof surfaces with a professional-grade biocide to inhibit future growth and preserve the results.

In addition to the roof, we completed a comprehensive list of exterior services, including:

• Biocide treatment of the side wall to eliminate green algae staining

• Gutter clearance throughout the buildings to ensure full drainage function

• Window and door washing to refresh the church’s appearance

• Deep cleaning and treatment of the main entrance

• Cleaning of the church sign, restoring its visibility and presence

• Power washing of all front and side walkways for safety and cleanliness

• Clearing of vegetation from around doorways, church pillars, and perimeter areas

Throughout the project, our team operated with discretion and care, fully aware that we were working within an active place of worship. We timed and managed all activity to minimise disruption and ensure that the property was respected at every stage.
